Piper Wins Hackney Contract
Having been installing windows in the London Borough of Hackney for over 7 years on Phase’s l and ll of their Decent Homes programme, Piper Double Glazing has recently been awarded Lead Window Contractor status for the four year Procurement 2010 Framework.
Procurement 2010 covers Phase lll of the London Borough of Hackney’s Decent Homes Programme as well as major renewal works across 31,250 council-owned dwellings. The programme of works is due to start in November 2010, with an expected value of windows to be in the region of £5m.
Hackney Homes – the arm’s length management company for Hackney Council, intends to divide the work among three main contractors, Mulalley, Mansell and Lakehouse.
In preparation, Pipers have carried out surveys and planning applications to enable the council to issue section 20 notices, which entitle them to charge leaseholders for their share of the works.
The project will consist of Veka Matrix 70 casement, tilt/turn, fully reversible and vertical sliding windows. Private balcony doors will also be required to some properties.
