French Doors with MACO

The project highlighting the partnership approach of Maco was an installation of residential single and double leaf PVC-U doorsets - large French Doors utilising the Veka Matrix profile and the Maco Doorlock with two Hook, two Cam and Shootbolts on the main doors with two Fingerbolts on the slave doors. James Piper again explains that “The drivers behind this project was the ability to tender for all social housing projects. Most call for a specification which achieves Secured by Design accreditation and we wanted to ensure we would be in a position to tender”. Continuing, James adds that they “Wanted to test to the maximum sash size that could be handled”.
Piper’s were the first company to achieve Secured by Design on large French Doors 2mtrs x 2.2mtrs taking the opportunity to go where others might fear to tread. James concedes that it was no easy task to get to the finishing post but “MACO’s partnership in the project was invaluable.” In addition to the SBD, the doors have been cycled tested to 50,000 cycles and passed, achieving accreditations of PAS23/24: 2007.
In a fast tightening economy, companies need to work in greater collaboration to achieve commercial success as exemplified by MACO’s approach, which includes free partner access to its industry standard testing unit. In the process standards and performance can be increased and ultimately demonstrate the value to the end customer, in this case the public sector which is being driven more and more to seek greater performance values.
